Faith Leaders

It Takes a Village!

Faith Leaders are key to our success! We’re supporting Faith Community Nurses bringing healthcare access to vulnerable and diverse populations in the Willamette Valley.

Have you wondered how a nurse might safely and effectively serve your faith family and lighten some of the load of caring for your congregation?

Faith community nurses may lead teams of health ministers to serve within a faith community to promote whole-person health, with an emphasis on spiritual care. They may provide preventive care, health education, advocate for members of the congregation, and facilitate referrals for resources. They assess the needs of a congregation/faith group and develop interventions to meet those needs. Faith community nurses work autonomously under their nursing license but are not direct caregivers. Instead, FCNs help faith community members navigate the proper resources to help coordinate such care.

Do you have actively licensed registered nurses (RNs) in your congregation? Have you heard about faith community nursing but are unclear about what a faith community nurse can do and how a faith community nurse might serve as a partner in pastoral care?
