SUMMARY:Adaptive Leadership for Compassionate Care in Complex Systems
DESCRIPTION:This interactive training provides the knowledge needed to help nurses develop adaptive leadership skills while practicing cultural humility and providing compassionate\, ethical care. Participants will explore how patients’ cultures\, beliefs\, and life circumstances influence care\, reflect on their own assumptions and biases\, and practice strategies to navigate challenges in complex healthcare systems. Through case scenarios and guided reflection\, nurses will strengthen their knowledge to be better able to collaborate with patients\, families\, and communities respectfully and inclusively. \nOutcome 1: Explain adaptive leadership and why it matters in providing compassionate care in diverse and complex healthcare settings. \nOutcome 2: Self-reflect on assumptions\, biases\, and cultural beliefs and discuss how these can affect patient care. \nOutcome 3: Describe how adaptive leadership skills can be used to address challenges and provide ethical\, fair\, and inclusive care while partnering with patients\, families\, and communities.   \nDate and time:                 August 20\, 2026\, 5:00pm-7:30pm Pacific \nIn-person only:              Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital\, Lebanon\, OR \nFacilitator:                      Angel Harris\, MSN\, RN\, Faith Community Nurse \nCost:                                   $50 (Limited scholarships available.) \nRegister Here! \nDownloadable Flyer \nABOUT OUR PRESENTER: \nAngel Harris\, MSN\, RN\, uses her natural passion to help build bridges toward racial equity and true community as advocate and Racial Equity Consultant at Angel Harris Consulting. She enjoys helping people learn and grow together as agents of change. She is also an Adjunct Nursing Faculty at Bushnell University. Angel has previously worked in medical-surgical\, oncology\, pediatrics\, and long-term care for over 18 years. Angel is a mother of three with her husband of over twenty years. Originally from Mississippi\, Angel attended Oregon State University and graduated in 2001 from Linfield University School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in 2023. \nThis activity has been submitted to Oregon Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. Oregon Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Due to ANCC requirements\, students must attend the entire session and complete an evaluation. Because of the highly interactive nature of the offering\, we will allow a student to miss no more than ten minutes. A course completion certificate cannot be granted unless the RN student meets these attendance requirements. \nNo relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies were identified for any individuals with the ability to control content of the activity.
